la la land
We just got back from LA--
I don't know how anyone lives there. The weather is beautiful - but that is where the niceness begins and ends.
Prices are outrageous. I was looking at the real estate section of the paper and noticed that it takes at least $1MM to get more than one bathroom. In Beverly Hills, or even the surrounding areas - it is more like $2MM. Ridiculous. It was commonplace to see 30,40, 50 million dollar houses for sale or rent for $50,000 a month! I thought - who can afford this?? Who lives here?? Then I looked at the cars - A LOT of middle eastern money... Dubai plates...oil money... wow. Lots of chicks (I think) in full body garb. Well, at least they don't have to worry about visible pantie lines although I can't imagine wearing the all black burka, in 90 degree heat, when in menopause - no way.
I feel sorry for the boys trying to find girlfriends there. Based on the outward appearance of their future mates, they would have no idea what their offspring would look like. I mean, the women could have started out looking like a neanderthal/pygmy combo and the unsuspecting male would have no idea that the barbie doll date had genes like that. And what about the cost of maintenance? Hair waxing alone could put a person in the poor house.
How can everyone be so cranky when the sun is shining all day every day? Those LA'ers need a dose of Chicago winter to give them some perspective. Or maybe some Key West humidity to test the efficacy of the keratin hair treatments? Mmmm--it could be the traffic or the smog. Just guessing though.
